Xwejni Salt Pans, Leli tal-MelħPreserves & Pantry. On the salt-carved coast just outside Marsalforn, the Cini family has worked the Xwejni salt pans since the 1860s. Fifth-generation salt farmer Josephine Xuereb and her father Manuel ('Leli tal-Melħ', the salt man) still sweep the crystals by hand each summer week, weather permitting.
Il-KartellRestaurants. One of Marsalforn's first stand-alone restaurants, in the same family since 1973 and now run by siblings Diane and Martin. Martin fishes, so the seafood is daily and the linguine Al Kartell (shellfish, calamari, prawns) is the dish. Stone-arched boathouse rooms inside, canopied terrace on the water.
